Today was a great day for Battlefield fans, filled with news, gameplay, and some clutch information so many of our fans have been waiting for. Did you miss out on any tidbits throughout the day? Fear not, loyal reader – we have the answers to all your questions right here in our Monday recap for E3 2011.
We kicked things off this afternoon with the EA Press Conference, where EA showed its entire lineup for the year, but the party really started when Karl Magnus Troedsson, General Manager of DICE, took the stage to introduce what you all were waiting for - Battlefield 3. The Battlefield 3 team came prepared, unveiling a massive amount of new information, including one key piece of information: Battlefield 3 launches on October 25, 2011.
KM went on to discuss a bit about the Frostbite 2 engine, which allows for all the great new features included in Battlefield 3. We could discuss this, but we know seeing is believing, so take a look at what Frostbite 2 can do!
Following that, Troedsson introduced Battlefield 3 Executive Producer Patrick Bach to the audience, as he played a mission from BF3 titled Thunder Run. In this playthrough, Bach guide Cpl. Jonathan “Jono” Miller as he takes his tank to the front of the enemy line. Needless to say, hijinx ensue. Care to see it for yourself? Here’s Patrick Bach’s entire playthrough from the event!
What about multiplayer, you say? Well, glad you asked! Multiplayer will be available for everyone to play at the EA booth on the E3 show floor! Not only that, Battlefield 3 fans will also be able to stop by the booth to get their very personalized Battlefield 3 dog tag, making for a nice memento for those able to make it to the show. For those of you at home, we know you’re all excited to see BF3’s multiplayer in action, so without further ado, here’s the first multiplayer trailer for Battlefield 3 called Operation Metro.
Still looking to see more of Battlefield 3’s multiplayer modes in action? You’re in luck – this September, the Battlefield 3 beta goes live, allowing you to dive into the heart of the fray and see all of the destructive power of Frostbite 2 and Battlefield 3 for yourself.
We’ve also been spending the past few days hard at work putting together the Battlefield 3 booth on the E3 show floor, and we’ve got a photo series chronicling the progress over the past few days. Be sure to take a look. Care for a sneak peek?

If you’re attending the show, be sure to stop by and take a look at Battlefield 3. For all the updates directly from the show floor, be sure to follow Battlefield on Facebook or on Twitter!
